UNOPS East Africa Hub - EAH

Located in Nairobi, Kenya UNOPS East Africa Hub manages a growing portfolio of engagements, including associated strategic and operational risks. The East Africa sub-region currently consists of an established operations center in South Sudan, an office in Somalia and a portfolio of engagements. This portfolio includes transactional projects in partnership with the Nairobi based UN Agencies UN-Habitat and UNEP, in addition to multiple 'operational' projects in Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya and several Atlantic and Indian Ocean island states.

Functional Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the Project Manager & Head of Field Office in Bujumbura, Burundi the Site Foreman & Construction Manager will be assisting the Project Manager & Head of Field Office in running of construction project sites to ensure timely, cost effective and quality delivery of the works. He/She reports to the Project Manager & Head of Field Office and will be required to undertake the following tasks:

1. Leadership and Supervision: Coordination of the construction teams and supportive of site disciplinary decisions including;

• Communicating work requirements to and with the construction team
• Recognizing, addressing and resolving issues/problems among/between construction team members;
• Promoting, supporting and facilitating teamwork and harmony between all construction team members by promoting and fostering a positive, visible teamwork attitude among team members
• Maintaining work standards and outlining behavioural expectations to ensure construction team morale and productivity
• Ensuring construction team compliance with project policies and procedures
• Ensuring construction team compliance with company policies and procedures
