UNOPS East Africa Hub

The UNOPS East Africa Hub is located in Nairobi and oversees the organizations operations in Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi. The Hub covers a large geographic spread, including Eritrea, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Mauritius, Seychelles and Comoros, in addition to those mentioned above. UNOPS in Kenya implements a large portfolio of projects in partnership with other UN agencies and various donors on the ground, ranging from physical infrastructure to transactional projects.

UNOPS Burundi Field Office

UNOPS Burundi Field Office initial projects are located across the country in all 17 provinces of Burundi, while the major project team will work from UNOPS Bujumbura-based country office.

UNOPS Burundi Field Office has established over the years a strong professional relationship with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Burundi. UNDP-Burundi sought UNOPS expertise in sustainable physical infrastructure projects implementation management, to support the multiple reforms of the Government of Burundi in Strengthening the rule of law, Consolidation of Good Governance, Promoting and streamlining Taxes Collecting by constructing or/and rehabilitating administrative offices buildings throughout the national territory. As result of the reforms, a number of police stations and provincial court rooms will be constructed and improve the Ministry of Justice by establishing an institutional framework for protection against violence based on gender and to increase efficiency of the justice system by strengthening operational capacity. The working environment of the Ministry of Justice and the National Police Objective is to be improved by establishing reliable statistics through data collection on gender-based violence cases by provision of a comprehensive medical and justice center infrastructure. As for the Ministry of Finance, seventeen (17) provincial One Shop Centers will be rehabilitated for the improvement of tax collection by enhancing a rigorous management of provincial public revenue offices.
