About IRRI
IRRI is a nonprofit independent research and training organization and is a member of the  CGIAR Consortium . IRRI's research is being done under the framework of the CGIAR Research Program on Rice, also known as the  Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP) , which the Institute leads.
Job Purpose
Under the supervision of IRRI-ESA Agronomist/Seed Specialist, provide international and in-country training support for the Extension Capacity Development for Rice Food Security in Africa project of IRRI/JICA; Organize and facilitate the trainings and communicate with partner institutions and trainees involved in the project; Translate English to French and vise-versa for Francophone participants; collection, collation, and maintenance of data; Assist in the monitoring and reporting of training activities in line with IRRI\'s  training program goals and quality management of the courses.  Supervised by the Agronomist / Seed Specialist, the incumbent will also provide research and outreach support for rice agronomy and seed system activities implemented in Burundi.
This position is based at IRRI Country Office in Bujumbura, Burundi.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Knowledge management and training
  • Provide support in organizing, facilitating and communicating with partner institutions and trainees , especially those from Francophone African countries involved in the project
  • Identify training needs and trainees for international (IRRI / PhilRice) and in-country training on rice seed system with especial emphasis to Francophone African countries.
  • Prepare and send invitation letters and other pertinent documents related to international and in-country trainings to partner institutions and nominees
  • Ensures nominees and partner institutions obtain information and updates on travel and training as well as other logistics required in a timely manner.
  • Translate English to French and vice-versa to ensure active participation of trainees and interaction between the trainees and the resource persons during the course of the training
  • Assist Admin coordinator with maintenance of time log sheets for IRRI/JICA project staff in ESA to be submitted to IRRI/JICA Admin coordinator.
  • Keep relevant records  related to the participants and the training course deemed necessary for IRRI/JICA Training project
  • Conduct practical demonstrations/field days, (informal) trainings for partners/farmers/communities in collaboration with other actors
  • Contribute to the development and distribution of training manuals and other communication materials
